Wooden design shaped by the sea
Wood doesn't arrive in the laboratory as a material to be shaped.
It arrives with a form already drawn by the sea.
The concept
Two ways to inhabit wood. Each piece is born from the encounter between material and gesture. You can choose a finished piece from the collection, ready to be finished. Or you can embark on a customized journey: the creation of a unique piece, starting from the raw material.
The sea sculpts before man
Every object signed SEAWOOD VENICE is born from a process that begins long before our intervention.
Salt water, tides, and time slowly transform the wood transported from the Venetian lagoon. The surfaces wear away, the fibers become compacted, and cavities and shapes emerge that no process could artificially reproduce.
When wood reaches the shore, it already carries its own identity. Our job isn't to transform it, but to recognize the moment when that form is ready to inhabit a space.
If it possesses balance, presence, and character, we intervene as little as possible. If that quality isn't there, the wood continues its journey and doesn't become a SEAWOOD VENICE object.
This is the difference between building an object and recognizing a work already begun by nature.

THE METHOD
Recognize, don't transform
Each piece of wood is observed, studied in natural light, and evaluated to determine whether it already possesses the presence needed to engage with a space. We intervene only once the wood has found its form.
the five principles
These are fundamental criteria that guide every design choice, influencing every stage of the process, from the careful selection of the most suitable materials to the final creation of the object, thus ensuring that every aspect reflects the vision and objectives of the project itself.
Cleaning, removal of unstable parts, treatment with natural oils. No varnishing. The work is based on subtraction: the superfluous is eliminated, everything else is preserved.
01
The material does not improve.
It reveals itself
Wood isn't crafted to make it more beautiful. It's crafted to make it stable, safe, and functional.
The aesthetic form was already present before human intervention. The work is one of subtraction: we eliminate what is unnecessary, preserving everything else. This is not an ethical principle, it's a design choice. Wood polished to perfection ceases to convey the history of the sea. It becomes processed wood. That's no longer what SEAWOOD VENICE sells.
02
The basis is not the design.
It's the infrastructure.
03
The light inhabits the existing openings.
In lamps, the light source is not positioned above or to the side of the wood. It enters the object through existing natural openings, cracks, cavities, and knots, and passes through them from the inside. This produces a light that is never the same: it varies depending on the internal shape of the wood, the position of the cavities, and the thickness of the walls.
It's not possible to design this light on a drawing board. You can only find the wood that makes it possible. This principle is applicable only if the person selecting the material already knows how light behaves in a space.
04
The piece must work without explanation.
A SEAWOOD VENICE object must have an independent presence. It must communicate something even without a caption, without context, without a story. If a piece needs explanation to be appreciated, it's not the right piece. This selection criterion, which comes directly from experience with guests in the apartments, automatically excludes any wood that is merely interesting as a raw material but lacks the form to become an object.
05
Each piece changes with the point of view.
No SEAWOOD VENICE object is two-dimensional. They all take up space, cast shadows, and change appearance depending on your position. This isn't an aesthetic goal; it's a consequence of selection: only wood that already possesses this three-dimensional quality is chosen.
A flat piece of wood, even a beautiful one, doesn't become a piece of SEAWOOD. It doesn't meet the fundamental criterion: being able to alter the perception of the space around it.
DESIGN, NATURE, TIME
Every object retains the signs of its journey
Design inspired by nature and the passage of time, giving rise to unique, authentic, and timeless objects. These distinctive elements elevate the art of design to a new level, emphasizing the importance of a profound connection with the surrounding environment.
The fusion of organic shapes and natural materials creates pieces that not only beautify spaces but also tell stories and traditions, making each object a true timeless masterpiece.
