The lagoon is the first laboratory

The relationship between Venice and the sea is inseparable. In a perpetual movement, made of tides and storm surges, the sea returns fragments of wood that enclose a creative narrative witnessed by primordial forms, light and shadow, and a corrosion that represents the inevitable fate of a city rooted in the sand.


SeaWood was born from our passion for nature, the sea, and art. The project took shape several years ago while walking along the shores of the Venetian sea. Drawn to anthropomorphic forms, we began collecting roots, tree trunks, and linear artifacts smoothed by the sea and its perpetual swell.

Francesca

Born in Genoa, she moved to Venice as a child, where she attended the Venice Art School and graduated in Architecture from the IUAV University. For years, she worked in interior design and the recovery of old and antique materials and furniture, giving them new life and a new home.


Passionate about photography and travel, she engages with the craftsmanship she discovers while traveling, the uniqueness of places, and the potential of the simplest materials. In her creative pursuit of reuse, she falls in love with driftwood, which she uses to create furnishings.


Walking in the cold seasons becomes a ritual and a creative moment that leads, together with Rosanna, to constantly dedicate herself to the processing of the wood given by the waves and to the birth of SeawoodVenice




Rosanna

Born and raised in Switzerland, where she graduated with a degree in marketing, she moved to Italy. She quickly developed a passion for ceramics and learned to work with clay with precision and patience. She transferred her great manual skill to woodworking, which she quickly developed a passion for.


This manual skill becomes the bridge to a new material: wood. A material he falls in love with, studying its grain, character, and possibilities.


A keen traveler and passionate about furniture and craftsmanship in all its forms, she shares a common vision with Francesca: a love for carefully crafted things, for materials that speak volumes, and for objects that inhabit space.

These wooden elements, through creative projects and manual workmanship, have been transformed into sculptures, furnishing objects, lamps and design objects.


Each piece is unique, requiring extensive cleaning and enhancement. The finishes are made using natural materials, water-based products, and natural waxes. The mechanical parts are the result of salvaged materials, designed and crafted in collaboration with a blacksmith who has collaborated with the Venice Art Biennale for years.


Each piece is numbered and accompanied by a certificate of uniqueness.
